Devlin's high school coach, Mike Matta, had a few stories to illustrate what kind of leader Devlin is. For instance, one day as he was nursing a separated shoulder he injured early in his senior year, Devlin saw his coach coming off the field with the team. Matta had told the kids to stop practicing because they were being particularly sloppy and lazy. Devlin saw this and "told them, ‘Turn around and go back on the field. We’re getting this right,’" Matta recalled. "And he didn’t yell or curse. The just followed. And he then ran practice."

The Allentown Morning Call is reporting (via Fight On State) that offensive guard Josh Marks has left the PSU football team and will seek a transfer. Because Marks is a Southern Columbia graduate, his most logical and likely destination is Division II Bloomsburg.

Buckeyes return 20 starters and once again are overwhelming favorites to win their fourth consecutive Big Ten title

As I have said for years with respect to the supposed co-championsip of 2005, I'll buy a 2005 Big Ten champions hat for any Ohio State fan that wants to wear one. What a chunk of crap.

A feel-good story about a guy who made the most of his opportunity last season at Penn State, courtesy of the Collegian's Travis Johnson. Rodney Kinlaw signs with the Jets:

From the Hofstra campus after his third NFL practice, Kinlaw takes himself back to his house, back in time to April right after he was left out of the NFL Draft. Each time a running back was selected, Rodney said to himself and his father, "I know I'm better than him." After Day 2 of the draft, Rodney Sr. said his son "felt pretty down" on himself.

Kinlaw doesn't feel the same way now as he did then. Now he has the chance. Now he must prove himself.

Bad news for Coastal Carolina: Presumed freshman starting quarterback Jamie Childers will be out three to six weeks after contracting viral meningitis. Zach MacDowell, a Wake Forest transfer, and last year's starter, Will Richardson, will fight for the starting job during Childers’ recovery. Will Richardson is the brother of former Penn State starting quarterback, Wally Richardson.
